Dr. Zobair Sultan Rabbani is a researcher, academic, and author specializing in the Arabic language and its sciences, Islamic jurisprudence and legal theory (Fiqh and Uṣūl al-Fiqh), Qur’anic exegesis and Qur’anic studies, Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, and comparative law. He received his academic training through several universities and higher academic institutions across different countries and is currently pursuing his research in the Department of Fiqh and Uṣūl al-Fiqh at the International Islamic University Malaysia. His scholarly interests encompass contemporary Islamic thought, Islamic renewal, maqāṣid-oriented ijtihād, Islamic political thought, human dignity and identity, and civilizational transformations, and his research is grounded in the principles and objectives of Islamic law while engaging thoughtfully with contemporary realities and emerging issues. Dr. Rabbani is the author of a number of books and has published peer-reviewed research papers and academic studies in scholarly journals; he has also written extensively on Islamic law, intellectual thought, comparative law, and humanitarian issues, and has participated in international conferences, academic forums, and scholarly seminars, collaborating with educational, da‘wah, and humanitarian institutions. He has contributed to supervising and supporting a variety of community development and charitable initiatives, including the establishment of schools and mosques, the construction of water wells, and the implementation of educational, humanitarian, and community development projects serving disadvantaged communities.
His academic journey is guided by the conviction that Islamic scholarship is both a trust and a responsibility. He believes that sound scholarship, methodological rigor, and a profound understanding of contemporary realities are essential for fostering intellectual renewal, advancing knowledge, serving humanity, and upholding the ethical values of Islam in light of the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the higher objectives (Maqāṣid) of Islamic law.
